“Mes saisons du dessin: dessins d’été dessins d’hiver” presents artworks by Arnaud Vasseux from the series: Spray, Floating Inks, “Guy”, “Lettraset”.
Essentially associated to sculpture, Arnaud Vasseux shows us works whose expression in intimately related to the interactions between gestures and ordinary materials.
Molding and impression are the main terms within his creative process, repeatedly introducing issues related to photography, to the emergence of image, to the dialectic relation between positive and negative. In his sculptures, just as much in his paper works, the features and the qualities of different materials provoke a large variety of gestures and techniques for collecting to transforming them. They may as well refer to old or contemporary techniques, scholar or not. Within this approach, the artist seems to permanently evaluate the frontiers between sculpture and drawing;
The body of works on paper presented at the gallery on the occasion of the event “La saison du dessin”(The Season Of Drawing) initiated by Pareïdolie shows his own practice of drawing, spanned over almost two decades and stimulating us to consider questionings and gestures that sculpture and drawing have in common.
